Most retirement checks only look at money. Retire Ready weights eight areas of financial and life planning, because being ready to retire means having enough income and knowing what you will do with your time.
How the retirement readiness score works
- Score each statement from 1 to 5. From "not started" to "fully in place and confident". Each score shows what it means.
- Watch your result update live. Your overall readiness out of 100 and a rating for each area change as you answer.
- See your priority actions. Statements you scored 1 or 2 are listed, highest-weight area first, so you know where to start.
- Print or save your report. Come back and re-score each year to track progress.
Ratings: Thriving Green is 75 or more, Growing Amber is 50 to 74, Planning Red is below 50.

Retirement readiness questions, answered
What is a retirement readiness assessment?
A retirement readiness assessment is a self-scoring questionnaire that shows how prepared you are for retirement in money and in life. Retire Ready asks you to score 40 statements from 1 to 5 across eight areas, then gives you an overall readiness score out of 100 and a Green, Amber or Red rating for each area.
How do I know if I am ready to retire?
You are likely ready when your expected retirement income covers your essential and lifestyle spending, you understand your State Pension and pension options, and you have a clear plan for how you will spend your time. The Retire Ready assessment checks all of these and highlights the gaps that need attention first.
Is the Retire Ready assessment free?
Yes. The assessment is free to use. You create a free access link by giving your name and email address, and your answers are saved only in your own browser, not on our servers.
How is my retirement readiness score calculated?
Each statement scores 1 to 5. Each area's score is your points divided by the maximum, then multiplied by that area's weight. The weighted scores add up to an overall score out of 100. A score of 75 or more is Thriving Green, 50 to 74 is Growing Amber, and below 50 is Planning Red.
Is this financial advice?
No. Retire Ready is an educational planning tool, not financial advice and not a personal recommendation. Pro-Vision Lifestyles is not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. To be connected to an authorised adviser, email info@pro-visionlifestyles.com.
I am in my 30s, 40s or early 50s. Is there a version for me?
Yes. Retire Ready Foundations is a shorter version for anyone 15 or more years from retirement. It focuses on saving habits, pensions, investing for growth, purpose, health and protection, and leaves out topics such as long-term care and downsizing that matter more closer to retirement.
Is Retire Ready a retirement quiz or checklist?
It is both. Retire Ready works like a retirement quiz because you score statements and get an instant result, and like a retirement checklist because it lists the areas you still need to address, with priority actions for anything you score as 1 or 2.
What is a good retirement readiness score?
A score of 75 out of 100 or more is rated Thriving Green, which suggests solid preparation. A score of 50 to 74 is Growing Amber, meaning a good base with gaps to close, and below 50 is Planning Red, meaning significant gaps need attention. The score is a guide to where to focus, not a guarantee.
How long does the assessment take?
Most people complete the full version in 15 to 20 minutes and the Foundations version in about 10 minutes. You can stop and come back, because your answers are remembered in your browser on the same device.
